After our washing machine started making noise during the fast spin cycle, we called the repair number. The tech (and I am using this term loosely) arrived looked over the machine. Checked a few things and declared it was the motor and I needed to get another $1100 front load washer even though this was only 4 years old.
After he left, I took the front off, saw it was a part that was broken and called the co back to inform them of their mistake. After postponing his call, a new "tech" arrived, spent an hour watching the machine, informed me the shock level was broken and the part would be 108.00 and the labor because it was intensive and would require two men??? Would be $344.40. I asked some more fact finding questions, why two men? Because he had to remove the drum. Why so long? It was labor intense. Why was the part so expensive? That was the going price. Would both shocks need to be replace? Well, that would be another $227.98. I thanked him because I knew he was ripping me off. I ordered the part online($19.81) and repair clinic video walked me through the 15 minute replacement I did
The company obviously is just trying to get you to buy another machine. The techs are untrained and work on commission. Shame on GE!
