I recently purchased a new GE Dryer. The bare bulb in the tumbler does not have a cover over it.

Therefore the bulb comes out inside the dryer as the clothes tumble. I replaced the first one.

Then second one came out and broke in my clothes. This is a safety issue and should be addressed immediately before someone is either hurt by the broken glass or fire as a result of wet clothing coming in contact with empty socket.

I don't have more to say but need at least 100 words to submit this.

Thank you for listening.

I had a similar experience with the unguarded light bulb in my GE dryer shattering as a result of being hit by some piece of clothing in the dryer, a zipper perhaps? In any case, I had to take all my laundry to a laundromat to wash out the fragments of shattered glass from my 5 year old's clothes!

Very scary.

Also a fire hazard. Very poor design!
