My brand new gas range was defective. My appliances were all purchased from home depot at the same time. The gas stove I purchased had a defect that when I put the oven on it kicked on the broiler. My oven caught fire. GE will not do anything about it. They wanted to...

We purchased a GE Electric Range on Jan 2 2018 from a salesman who, while pleasant, knew absolutely nothing about ranges. We knew more only because we had researched them on Consumer Reports. He did not even know the procedure for processing the sale documentation as...

Ge Appliances - Fire Hazard
We purchased the GE Cafe gas range. When we installed the oven (meticulously following the instruction manual) it burst into flames. Luckily we got the fire out and no one was injured and there was no damage to our home. GE sent a technician to investigate. The tech...

General Electric - Failure to Address Serious Safety Issue

2.1
Details
Spectra oven in unoccupied home shorted and caused the broiler to turn on. All the controls were off and the only way to cut the power was at the circuit breaker. Unit ran over a month and resulted in $250 power bill. After contacting GE Appliance customer service, they sent out a technician and abruptly closed the case. The oven is a total loss and they did not respond to numerous phone messages and the pictures I supplied. Actually spent two hours on hold to reach a representative and no one ever picked up. The technician reported that we were lucky the home did not burn down. The oven got so hot the racks rusted and malformed. The interior paint blistered and the top of the oven door is visibly burnt. Seems to me that they might want to do their own investigation but now have to deal with my attorney.

Ge Appliances - Oven light won't work while baking

2.0
Details
I built a new house and went to a local appliance dealer the purchase all new GE appliances. I purchased a new GE gas convection range. The range door has a glass window and an interior light that automatically comes on when the oven door is opened. But, the interior oven light will not work while the oven is turned on, except when you open the oven door. I asked GE why a put a window in the oven door if you can't turn on the oven light while cooking. The on-line rep replied that the glass window in the door was put there users could see inside the oven while baking. A window looking into a dark oven is less than useful. It turns out this range model does not allow the interior light to be turned on when baking. Moral of the story when purchasing a GE oven or range....be certain to ask the appliance dealer is the light works while baking. Perhaps you can avoid this problem.

Ge Appliances - GE Ceramic Top Ranges - Not worth the trouble.

1.6
Details
In my opinion the Ge Ceramic Top Ranges are defective. The smallest thing that gets on the top when you are cooking leave a terrible mark which takes a great deal of effort to remove. They knew that the material used to make the top was defective in that it absorbs all kinds of stains, and even water marks, because they even offer a cleaning kit with it, which includes a special abrasive to scrub the top with, a special sponge and even a razor blade to scrape the top. So they knew it was a big problem. I went out on line to see if anyone had and good ideas on how to clean the ceramic top and surprised to see the hundreds of posts with ideas - non of with really work without a lot of effort. If they did GE would be including it in their new models. If you don't want a lot of heartache, I recommend you do not buy the GE ceramic top ranges. I did call customer support and they offered me 150 dollars off on a new 700 dollar range - I would have to take the $550.00 loss on a range that is under 1 year old and under warranty. They respond by saying the warranty does not cover stains - I say - the warranty should cover the use of defective material in the construction of the top. We really need a lawyer to pick up a class action suite on this and sue for either money back, or replacement of coil top ranges + suffering which is what my wife and I do when we have to clean this wretched thing.
