General Electric - Failure to Address Serious Safety Issue

Spectra oven in unoccupied home shorted and caused the broiler to turn on. All the controls were off and the only way to cut the power was at the circuit breaker. Unit ran over a month and resulted in $250 power bill. After contacting GE Appliance customer service, they sent out a technician and abruptly closed the case. The oven is a total loss and they did not respond to numerous phone messages and the pictures I supplied. Actually spent two hours on hold to reach a representative and no one ever picked up. The technician reported that we were lucky the home did not burn down. The oven got so hot the racks rusted and malformed. The interior paint blistered and the top of the oven door is visibly burnt. Seems to me that they might want to do their own investigation but now have to deal with my attorney.

General Electric - GE cafe CGS990SET5SS hot knobs

I bought a GE Cafe range last July. Have had hot knobs on oven the entire time. GE repairman has been here twice and said there was nothing wrong. Maybe it is something I am doing. Suggested dish towels hanging from oven handles. I have burned myself several time. Repairman was here yesterday and he put on both ovens. *** area did not heat up until after he left. I put on broiler and the whole area became very hot. I am going to call again, but do not expect resolution. I think there should be a class action suit before there is a buyout of the GE appliance division. Claudia

General Electric - GE Profile Gas range FIRE

I have a GE profile gas range (5 years old) and the knobs have melted twice The rear control panel has melted 3 times when operating the self cleaning function GE customer I use the word loosely SERVICE informs me there is nothing more they can do, and will sell me a new stove at a discount. This is completely unacceptable. I was a NYC professional firefighter for 21 years I know what can cause a fire and this stove is it. The product and previous units are DEFECTIVE. If anyone out there is having the same issues, please contact the department of consumer safety. I intend to shortly post a U-Tube video of the range melting, together we can force GE to reimburse us for THEIR defective products Hopefully it does not take someone getting hurt or worse
