After about 2.5 years, the power button on my front loading GE dryer stopped working. I've read a lot of reviews for the same problem.

I don't want to pay $$ to have a faulty part replaced. Any suggestions? Should I contact GE directly? I read where another was charged $485 for this repair.

Has anyone had any luck with self-repair? I don't have nor do I want to buy a soldering iron. Is there an easy way to fix without having to have a professional come and replace, probably to only break again?

The underlying mechanism for starting the dryer works; I use a very small screwdriver to press it to start, but this is not a good long term solution. I'd appreciate any contacts with GE or any success anyone has had contacting the company.

Review about: Ge Appliances Dryer.

Reason of review: Bad quality.
