Bought appliances for new home, including an overthe the range GE Microwave. Less than 2 months after we moved in, the microwave just stopped working.
Called GE, because Lowes doesn't handle this after microwave is over 4 months old (time difference between construction completion and move in date).
3 weeks later, the repairman takes the microwave and says he will be in touch. Parts, if not in US, come from China. If parts have to come from there, I have no idea when it will be field. Contacted GE again, and after haggling with them, picked out another GE microwave that Consumer Reports said was decent.
That as over 2 weeks ago, and delivery was supposed to happen last Wednesday. Company called to reschedule for yesterday, 8/20. By 4:30, 30 minutes past appoint, called delivery company and was told driver would call right back.
Nothing. Left another message at 4:50 PM.
Now, waiting for Monday to get back with GE rep.microwave.
User's recommendation: Do not buy GE or Samsung. Experienced repairman explained to us that both companies are owned by China and parts are impossible to get. He also said that he was the only area repairman for both companies and “I am getting ready to retire. There is no one else in our area that services these.”.
Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered.
Ge Appliances Cons: Poor product performance, Horrible parts availability, Service for area is limited, Customer service for not follow through and stalls, Overall poor quality of applicances.
