Today I had a repair service for a 2-year old GE Monogram microwave (a $700 product) that started to smell like something was burning. The technician opened the product and discovered a defective connector that was already half burned.

He said it was clearly a factory defect that should be covered by warranty but that he can't do anything about it. He exchanged the piece (a small plastic cover worth probably 1 cent) which took him about 5 minutes. He put the oven together again which took him another 5 minutes and then he charged me for $220.93. He said he understands and agrees with my frustration but that he can't do anything.

He also said he is tired of hearing that same comment from many customers, gave me the GE customer service number and walked away. I then called the customer service and explained the situation to which the guy said the charge was legitimate and that he was sorry.

This is totally ridiculous and completely unacceptable. DO NOT EVER BUY A GE PRODUCT< YOU WILL ONLY REGRET IT>

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Monetary Loss: $221.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

GE Appliances Pros: Technician came on time.

GE Appliances Cons: Rip-off that should have been covered by warranty, Are junk.
