I feel your pain ...

GE Appliances - I feel your pain ...

I purchased a ge profile refrigerator model # Pfcs1njwa it has an embraco compressor and inverter. In the 7 years I had this fridge , the inverter has gone bad 3 times , most recently replaced in October 2015 with ge part # Wr49x10283 and its dead again as of today.

Ge themselves wouldnt take any responsibility, emails back and forth got me an offer to buy a new ge fridge for a 30 % discount. Based on my experience with ge refrigerators and this reoccurring issue you can't blame me for not accepting their offer. Doing research on this I found many consumers complaining that their embraco inverters were exposed to the heat of the compressor and you can see visible heat marks and damage to the casing. I have a Service protection Plan and after losing some of my food for the 3rd time yesterday , i ran out to buy a small fridge to store some food over the weekend.

Usually the warranty service sends someone over , they take a look and tell me yup its the inverter and then order the part and make a followup appointment to actually replace it. This time i got lucky .... and the GE serviceman ran down to his truck and brought up the fourth inverter ...yes 3rd embraco inverter, and fixed my fridge in 5 min. I actually took a look ta the two broken ones , the one replaced in oct 2015 had smaller capacitors and one seems to have been burning , smelled like it an oily substance was all over the inside cover of the inverter.

I tried reaching out to embraco and hoped that at least they would take some responsibility for this faulty design ...Again 3 inverters failing in such a short amount of time is unreasonable and extremely expensive , I need to maintain a warranty on this fridge at $22 bucks a month for the forseeable future.

I actually called embraco and spoke to someone who transferred me to quality control ...he was away from his desk , I left a message , but im not holding my breath to get a reasonable answer. Meanwhile i have a box full of old interverters , control boards etc.

Worst Warranty Repair Service Ever!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Have been trying for more than three weeks now to get my 8 month old GE Dryer repaired. During this time I have had to make daily trips to the only laundromat in town at $2 a load and often have to make repeat trips because the units are all full when I arrive. Called GE service on a Monday and they made me an appointment for that Thursday. Thursday came and went and no technician so I called the repair company and they told me that they had no work order! I called GE and they told me that the company had rejected the work order....nice of everyone involved not to let me know! No phone call, email or any other notice. GE said there were no other repair companies in my regional area (Tyler, TX) and they could not give me an appointment so they transferred me to Consumer Affairs. The person there authorized a service call from a town 100 miles away and I waited again because there was no date given only that they would call me when they could work me in. Tech showed up in a couple of days and asked "where are the parts?". He had no parts and could do nothing. He called GE and they told him to order a new timer mechanism and timer *** Tech told me it should be 4-5 days. 10 days later still no news so I called the repair company. They said the parts were in and they were on the truck and would be out that day between 8 am and 5 pm. 5 pm came and no tech....called the repair shop and they told me that GE had called them and cancelled the service repair because it was "not cost effective"! They said GE might call Lowes where I bought the dryer and just have them replace it. I called Lowes and the Customer Service Manager took my info and made a few calls to GE to try to get a Replacement Authorization number to swap out the dryer. GE refused and instead told him they would make me an appointment with another service company. Again, no call or anything from GE, just and email with a note of a service appointment with another company 5 days out on the calendar. This company is supposedly local in Tyler when two different GE reps had just told me 10 days ago that there was only one local company to do repairs. This means that after another 4 days the tech will come out, look at the machine, and order parts which will take another 10 days like before! Called GE Consumer Affairs and asked why they cancelled my service appointment when the truck was on the way with my parts. Their answer was " we don't cancel appointments but I see here that we did because it was not cost effective"! I told them I wanted a Replacement Authorization to Lowes but they refused and said I would need to wait for the next service appointment to take care of the problem. When I told them that the tech would be able to do nothing without parts, they finally got a clue and looked up the parts that were shipped for the cancelled service order and are supposedly overnight shipping them to me for the appointment later this week. At this point I hung up on them because the mindless approach to customer service is more than I could take. As of now we are at three weeks and counting and I am out daily trips to the laundromat at $4 - $6 a trip and still have a broken dryer. Never, Never buy anything with the GE name on it!

GE finally contacted me and provided the requested reimbursement.

Original review Mar 07, 2017
Our Model WPGT9360E0WW GE HE Top Loading Profile Washer caught fire 18-May-2016. It appeared that the fire originated at the main control board, P/N WH12X10281.

When this event occurred, we immediately unplugged the washer from its electrical supply, but smoldering continued for a few minutes. When the smoldering and smoking had slowed, we removed the backsplash and used a fire extinguisher as an additional safety measure as there did seem to be heat generated from the control board area. The Washer had been loaded with laundry, which then had to be taken to a laundromat along with all of our laundry as we of course would not reconnect the defective GE Washer to the electrical supply. We researched having the main control board replaced, but learned that a new washer could be obtained for a lower cost than the parts and labor for repair.

We purchased a new washing machine of a different brand and paid to have the defective GE Washer hauled away at the time of delivery of our new machine. GE issued a Recall Notice dated 28-Nov-2016 for this defective washer citing that there is a risk of fire. By that time, six months following the recalled defective GE washer catching fire, the defective GE washer had been removed from our home and replaced with an alternate brand. Upon receiving the Recall Notice, I immediately contacted GE to request reimbursement for the replacement washer that I purchased, plus the expended fire extinguisher and laundromat costs, a total of $522.50.

GE failed to respond and so I re-transmitted my request on 13-Feb-2017. Finally on 03-March-2017, GE called to advise that since I no longer have the washer for their "verification", my request will not be considered. I had provided photos (included here) indicating charring of the washer backsplash above the area where the fire originated, but GE used this weak excuse of the washer having been removed from our home nine (9) months earlier for not reimbursing for the replacement washer. The defective GE washer was no longer under warranty and I saw no reason to contact GE prior to my receipt of the Recall letter.

And who in the world would keep a burned out washer at their home for months after it had been replaced?

Our home is still loaded with GE Appliances including dishwasher, clothes dryer, refrigerator, microwave, cooktop, range and vent hood. Hopefully these items will not catch fire, and as they reach the end of their service life, they will certainly not be replaced with GE products.

In total Shock!

On May 20 of this year 2017 I purchased a 1200 GE refridgerator! One month later the freezer quit! I didnt get extended warranty so they refused to cover my 300 food loss and told me to open a complaint file and some one would call me back.In the mean time they sent a repair man to fix the problem. The fridge seemed ok after that for a bit and last night sept 24 2017 the freezer in the fridge quit again.I lost another 300 dollars in meat .I called the Brick in Sarnia Ont Canada which is where it was purchased and ask for my money back and to take the fridge back they said to call G E .I still had not heard back from them on the last complaint so I have spent the day begging for help as Incannot afford another loss of food I dont want the fridge I want my money back. IT IS IMPSSIBLE TO DEAL WITH CUSTOMER CARE.They offered to send another repairman but if it breaks again there is more money out the window.zIts the customers that keep you in bussiness GE..Take heed to that.I will never ever ever buy anything from GE again and I quite certian aIm not the only one. They will get back to menin 2 business days....What do I do with my food .Omg.Super frustrated

Four year old dryer quits

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We purchased a new GE washer and dryer 4 years ago for a total cost of $1500.00. Several weeks ago, the dryer started turning itself off and on and would not complete a cycle. Checked that the vent was clear and still, the problem continued. The only way it would stop beeping off and on was to unplug it. Called the appliance store where we purchased the dryer and their tech determined that it needed a new control panel and interface for a cost of $539.00! Called GE Customer Relations and they confirmed that the repair would cost at least $500!!! So, we're faced with the decision to sink another $500 into a 4-year-old dryer or purchase a new one for about $100 more. This consumer is pissed that a GE dryer doesn't last even 4 years!

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Love the products.........would never buy another again.....why you ask? Because a rather minor rebated ($25.00 per appliance) totaling $100 was denied.

I purchased my appliances at Lowes and specifically got an extended warranty from an outside source so that I could qualify for a minor rebate on my top end appliances.

Submitted the claim.....never heard back from GE......and in a discussion with family, I realized I never got my $100 VISA card..........I called, was originally told it was 'on hold' for dealer information.......representative went to "supervisor" where it was promptly denied as I purchased my products ( not the warranty) at LOWES...........am guessing Lowe's did something major to this company........why even allow them to sell the products? Why even create these situations.........NEVER HAD ANY FOLLOWUP.........not an email, a call.........nothing............just fell into the deep ravine of a Lowe's customer........DON'T buy a GE product , don't waste your time......other models from other business' will do you well in your kitchen.......WOW, is all that I can say

Internal icemaker leak in GE Monogram refrigerator

GE Appliances - Internal icemaker leak in GE Monogram refrigerator
GE Appliances - Internal icemaker leak in GE Monogram refrigerator - Image 2
The internal icemaker water line downstream of fill valve dry rotted and broke after 12 years on my GE Monogram refrigerator. It caused several thousand dollars damage to hardwood floor in kitchen and drywall/carpeting in room below. Why would GE use a cheap plastic water line in their top of the line model refrigerator? I'm wondering if any other owners of GE refrigerators have had a similar experience. Not aware of any recalls issued for this model. I don't think I can ever trust a GE refrigerator in my home again. The risk to my home is just too great and I never want to go through this again.

GE Appliances are a piece of Junk.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The GE Refrigerator that I purchased in Nov.2014 is a piece of junk! I purchased it in Nov. 2014 and as of June 1st. of 2017 the door handle on the bottom door just cracked where the door handle is screwed into the door. It just cracked and fell off. The workers that was putting this handle cracked the door by screwing the handle on too tight. I could not even call the GE Company to tell then what happened to this piece of Junk. Meanwhile I am having to replace the handles, pay shipping which I think is not good. Please beware don't buy any GE PRODUCTS, Mary Hopkins

No more GE products

I purchased a GE washing machine back in February 2013 within 5 months I had already called my first repairman. It is now 2017 I have had 11 visits from a repairman. Of course in that length of time I had purchased and an extended warranty. Figured i would need it!!!! The name of that company is, ASSURANT which is an authorized user of the GE marks for Service Contracts for GE-branded appliances. To make a long story short I've had major problems with this company. And not knowing much about how warrantys, -extended warrantys/authorized user of marks work, I thought I would reach out to GE company. to see if I could receive some help from them with my problem. 800-626-****. After talking to this representative, which was incredibly frustrating & useless, which ended badly. He became rather rude at the end of the conversation. I had told him because of my frustration that I probably would not buy another GE product and that he should let his superiors know what type of a run around I had received from that (extended warranty company), who are using your name brand. His reply was, " why would I do that, you're not going to buy another GE product. You already said that". Now that's some service. Well, back to calling Assurant!!!!!!!! Thanks GE

My experience is awful.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I had a GE certified tech come out and look at my refrigerator. GE model #pfss9kyass. Tech #1330****. I initially was told that I would get a $100. rebate back if I didn't want to fix my frig. My tech told me it was not worth fixing. When I called to get my $100. rebate back I was told I couldn't use it at Lowe's or Home Depot. I spent an hour on the phone with customer service asking if I could get my $100. back or at the very least get that money towards Lowe's or Home Depot. No satisfaction. Told me they are very sorry but no. Told them I would never buy another GE product. They said ok.

DO NOT BUY GE WASHING MACHINE GTW485***

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Purchased washer/dryer set April/17 from Hudson Bay Co in Calgary, AB, Canada -- now August 31/17 and I now have a 3rd machine and it still does not work. GE Canada admitted to a "computer board" problem with this model. This unit failed its diagnosis and I am to pick another set and they'll consider the exchange. RUST STAINS made by this machine have ruined 3 sets of sheets and pillow slips, numerous tea towels, blouses, t-shirts and underwear, etc. The bleach dispenser does not completely empty and the subsequent load of colored towels now have "bleached-out" areas! GE Canada and GE US suck to the nth degree!!!
