GE momogram appliances

I purchased a complete set of GE Monogram appliances when we built our home end of 2006. We had problems with our full sized refrig and freezer after about 1 year. Refrig would ice up and stop cooling. Freezer would not freeze GE stopped servicing our area where we lived and sent repair men from a different company who had no idea of what they were doing. After 5 or more service calls, and telling them I only wanted a official GE repair man, they finally realized the doors drop over time. This causes the fan to not function correctly. The added a simple piece to the top of each of my units that fixed the problem and allowed the fan to turn back on. This solved the problem on both units. Both my trash compactors I purchased from GE have broke. My problem is they occupy a 12 inch cabinet space. had no idea that 12 inch compactors would be discontinued, or I would have put in a 15 inch one. This is going to be a costly kitchen remodel to change two 12 inch trash compactor spaces into 15 inch ones.

GE Microwave

August 27, 2012 LH Brubaker Appliance, Mechanicsburg, PAOur 3 year old microwave failed: Model: jnm1541dmww 1.5 cu.ft OTRWe are Senior Citizens living in a 55+ Community and on a fixed income. We think it is shameful that the microwave was made in Malasia and not in the USA and it only lasted 3 years. It breaks our hearts to think this appliance is going into a landfill. We can't afford to replace our new appliances every three years. Please bring back the manufacturing to our country or we will never buy a GE product again.

I also have a GE microwave, 2 yrs. old, continues to stay on when door opened.

Called GE to get serviced, on their dime, since it's a safety issue. Got the FULL circle call the next guy or this number, til I came full circle and then was told it's out of 1yr warranty. They gave the impression that they would fix at first, all fake and pretend that they care about their products. A bunch of baloney.

No longer will buy GE anything.

They can shove it up their rear! POS company!!

GE side by side fridge is junk

bought a new GE fridge in 2003 and had many service calls regarding this piece of junk, I had 3 computer main boards go out and replaced, a couple sensors go out and replaced, 2 doors replaced on a recall, the latest issue was a water dispenser line in the door freeze up and GE wants to charge a service call for their *** product, I will never contribute another penny to another one of their junks. GE told me they will give me a rebate on another new fridge if I were to buy another GE appliance, I told them why the *** would I buy another GE piece of junk if they cant even take care of this one. I asked them if this was part of their job security plan. GE does not have any quality or support in their product. I will never, NEVER buy another GE appliance ever again, instead of GE's 1 (800) GE-cares,, it should be 1 (800) GE ROB ME,,, that way you know up front what they are all about

The tubing on GE refrigerator ice machines

So I had to cut the ice machine tubing to remove the fridge door in order to fit the unit through a tight doorway. I thought: It'll be simple... I'll get a quick-connect poly tubing connector and reconnect it. However some genius at the GE design department decided it was optimal to use 5/16th" OD tubing for the ice machines. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT????? 5/16th tubing and corresponding connectors are not available anywhere, not the home depot, not Lowes, not even plumbing and HVAC supply houses in NEW YORK CITY!!!!! Whoever that designer at GE is, he should shove 5/16th" OD tubing up his nose and out his ear and destroy his evil brain.

Service tech did not have common replacement part on truck

Spoke to a tech support person on the telephone to try and stop my dryer from buzzing while it was off. The steps to stop it did not work. She said it is common to have to replace the control board in this situation. Went on-line to schedule a GE service tech to come out and service my dryer. Gave the model number of the appliance and a detailed explanation of what was happening and what was already tried to correct the problem. The next available time was Saturday July 21st with a window from 8:30a - 5:00p. The service tech shows up at 11:30a without the control board and wants $79.00 for the service call. I AM PISSED!

Five hundred dollar washer computer

five year old GE top loading washer, computer dies, washer won't drain, what a smell. then GE repairman tells me new computer costs $650. including his visit. New, it cost $800. Outrageous planned obsolescence at expense of consumer. GE apparently thinks we are all rich and can pour money into appliance repair. I didn't ask for a computer, eight cycles. So I bought a Maytag Centennial for the $500., top loading, few cycles and I can soak in it. Wrote to GE CEO a goodbye letter. What do you bet I hear nothing from him. Is there a class action suit I can join?

GE tech reinstalled icemaker improperly now I have water damage

Updated by user Jul 12, 2012

GE\'s delivery company came to replace icemaker all to deliver a damaged one now I have to wait for someone to call and set up another delivery and they want the old unit or they won\'t leave new one. I thought they gave me a discount because of all the problems I had, but it turns out it\'s not discount they offer it to everyone even with the damage they have done to my home their is no resolution to reimburse me for lost time of tech being here, damage to house, and now delivery of unit, and lost wages, and they say NO OLD UNIT SWAP NO DEAL, even though they charged me for the new one. I dont think so.

Original review Jul 01, 2012
GE tech improperly installed my stand alone MONOGRAM icemaker it has leaked through my floor into ceiling in the downstairs. I now have major water damage due to this. The back of the machine was put back together with screws still sticking out, the drain line wasn't properly reattached which caused it to come loose and leak the drain tube wasn't even in the drain pump. I do have pictures and video of this which I hope I won't have to show general public as this is very poor workmanship on GE's tech part. Very angry.

GE french door fridge big problems

I have a GE french Door fridge. With bottom freezer that won't maintain 0 degrees. It fluctuates between -6 setting in order to keep it from getting to warm and +17. G E has been out to repair it 3 times with no success. Was told the last time it was "Normal for it to vary 5-10 degrees" well last time I checked -6 to +17 is 23 degrees difference. Also was told it was a problem with bottom door freezers. Only thing good about any of this is I bought the extended warranty.Looks pretty but I would never buy this type of 3 door fridge again, stick to the old fashioned freezer on top!

GE MONOGRAM APPLIANCES ARE HORRIBLE

WE BOUGHT GE MONOGRAM APPLIANCES FOR OUR NEW HOUSE 4 1/2 YEARS AGO. THEY WERE VERY EXPENSIVE AND SUPPOSE TO BE TOP OF LINE. I HAD TO REPLACE THE REFRIGERATOR LAST YEAR BECAUSE THE ICE MAKER COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. AFTER REPEATED SERVICE CALLS AND INSTALLING A NEW ICE MAKER, IT STILL DIDN'T WORK! NOW MY OVEN HAS GONE OUT. THE OVER WON'T HEAT AND THE DIGITAL SCREEN STAYS AT 100*. IT IS GOING TO COST $400 JUST FOR THE PART AND THEN LABOR. IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING GE APPLIANCES, I WOULD CAREFULLY RESEARCH OTHER OPTIONS AND DON'T GO WITH GE!!!

GE Appliances SUCK!

Before I start, I want to let everyone know that I THOUGHT I had done my research, but apparently not well enough. My husband and I purchased a brand new GE side-by-side refrigerator in July 2007.

I checked reviews for the product online and looked for just the right model. Then we went to Home Depot and purchased the side-by-side model with clean steel and ice maker. We purposely bought an Energy Star model to reduce our electric bill. We did not buy the extended warranty, because who needs that for a refrigerator that should last at least 10 years for a cheap model.

My parents bought a refrigerator when I was a kid that lasted for almost 20 years, and my grandmother had the same refrigerator for over 40. I registered the model with GE right away. Immediately I began receiving almost daily emails from GE urging me to purchase the extended warranty. We considered it, because it only has a one year warranty, but as I mentioned before it seemed like a waste of money.

About 6 months ago I discovered why they push the warranty so hard. My 2 year old refrigerator began making a horrible alien sound. The sound has now progressed to include an interment grinding noise. Apparently, GE makes the refrigerators to last only as long as the warranty, because we believe the compressor is going out!

Yes, you read that correctly!!! A two year old refrigerator is on its last leg. The best part is that our brand new GE dishwasher, which is less than 2 years old decided to die right before Thanksgiving!!! I will never purchase another GE appliance again.

Thank God the new electric range is an LG!!!! I don't know how we are going to afford to purchase brand new appliances again. We saved to buy the ones we have now for a year! I guess GE is making a killing on their appliances, because they must have a very high profit margin with the shoddy craftsmanship and added bonus of extended warranty sales.

All I have to say is stay away from GE Appliance and spend your money on an LG. So far, it is the only company I've had any luck with.

Same issues here with fridge. Also got the dishwasher....

can’t handle large plates and glasses.

The jet dry holder has to be replenished every 4th wash cuz it’s so small!!! Only holds about 8oz!!

They are pieces of junk - each and every one of them

We have been through 2 GE microwaves in just over 4 years - they seem to only last about 25 months. I will never buy another GE *anything* since apparently they have decided that appliances are now "kitchen consumables".

They are Junk

4 year old GE Profile just stopped cooling altogether . Waiting for a repairman to come out but have a bad feeling it will be a major cost. I’ll keep you posted.

Three weeks going on four with no oven. Purchased in October of 2018.

Never again. Can’t even get them to take it back.

If the water dispenser line freezes up (common problem), a Water Line Buddy is an easy and cheap fix. www.waterlinebuddy.com

Agree. All new GE appliances in 2016 and I'm already looking for replacements.

The dishwasher is the biggest piece of *** I've ever seen. Three warranty calls in the first year and never fixed.

GE was purchased by a Chinese company in 2016. My family has had trouble with the GE stove, microwave, and washing machine and dryer. It's a shame as the GE company used to be reliable.

Worst. Appliances. Ever.

We purchased a new higher-end home in 2008. We selected GE appliances for the kitchen. Everything but the microwave has given us problems. The dishwasher leaves crud on the dishes. The motor has seized. The door is offset. The dishwasher is extremely noisy. We have to rewash about 30% of what comes out of there. The touch buttons on the oven are cracked and have fallen off. The dual ovens heat unevenly and one takes forever to get to temperature. The fridge developed a leak which went undiscovered for days, soaking and ruining drywall and dripping into the basement where we lost mementos due to water damage. The fridge has cheap plastic bin covers, which, if you drop something on them, break. Then GE charges you a fortune for a replacement. The glass stove top is incredibly difficult to keep clean. A huge disappointment for what we paid. NEVER AGAIN!

GE Water Heater

Be VERY careful when buying a water heater from GE. I have one in my attic and they have put new "safety" features into the model that has the pilot light turn off at 100 degrees. Well it gets over 100 in the summer. They sent out an "attic orifice" that was supposed to fix the problem but it didn't. After hours of paying a plumber finally asked if I could swap it out to a more expensive tankless electric heater. I will pay GE more money to fix their problem - no go- "***" was the answer. It's not our problem - it's yours.

GE PROFILE SUCKS

We bought our house early 2005 and "asked" to be upgraded to the "superior" GE Profile series of applicances. This includes D/W, Refridgerator, built in Microwave/Convection oven, 5 burner gas stove top with a mechanical back draft. To date: Convection oven never worked (really didn't bother us as we usually used Microwave, mechanical backdraft stopped working. Inferior metal arms were used so they warped about 2 years ago and I replaced them for a mere 300 for parts and now my refridgerator has completely stopped working. Once again not the compressor but the *** electronics that were installed. The first thing noticed was the water dispenser started acting up then the ice maker delivery system in door started acting up then the motor shut down completely. Nice…there goes 500 worth of food. It is out of warranty no doubt but my 76 year old mother has had her very efficient Kenmore for over 20 years without a problem. I will never ever buy another GE product. I don't even like flying on planes with GE engines since you obviously can't build a consumer appliance, why would I trust you with a jet engine????

GE Top load washer Model WJREE5550K2WW

This washing machine is approx 2 years, I do 1-2 loads per week, did a load today and it won't spin, so I called local repair facility, cost me $49.50 for them to come out to diagnois and consult with GE Customer Care.... My 2 year old washer needs a new motor at the cost of $275 for parts alone, and I would have to pay this company the labor to install, bottom line is it would be cheaper to buy a new machine. Pretty sad the last machine i had which was NOT a GE appliance lasted 12 yrs and then i did 5 loads per week ! Even the technician that came out said to me see that phone number for GE Customer C-A-R-E ... trust me they really don't CARE ! so off to look for another machine for me and guess what BRAND it WILL NOT BE this time around !

It took GE two weeks to deliver my fridge

I ordered a GE fridge from Home Depot in a rush because my fridge was dying. It was scheduled to be delivered a day and a half later. I got the confirmation call the night before that it would be delivered between 10-2. I took the day off from work (I do not get paid when I do not work) to process food from my freezer in an effort to save it, and wait for the delivery. At 2:10 I called the delivery help line because the fridge had not arrived. I was told that it was in the record that I had been called and informed of a "delivery delay" at 9:30 that morning and it was scheduled to arrive the following Tuesday. When I told the service rep that was not true, she investigated. A GE employee had called me, the call had been disconnected and she had not tried to call me back, but wrote in the record that I had been reached. I lost a full day of work and lots of food a result. I was told to call and talk to a supervisor after the fridge was successfully delivered to discuss "further compensation." Tuesday came, I had received the call the night before confirming my delivery between 9:30 1:30. I got a call that morning that there had been another "delivery delay." Now it was scheduled to come on Thursday. Another day rearranged, meetings cancelled, etc. On Thursday the fridge arrived, but it was in black instead of white. I refused the fridge and ordered another one. My fourth delivery date was set for the following Tuesday, 2 weeks after the fridge was ordered. It arrived successfully. I called and talked to a GE supervisor, who told me that all my pain and suffering, loss of food, payment for ice for 2 weeks and loss of work time was worth $150 - they could not compensate me further. They do not compensate for loss of work time, even though their employee lied about calling me. I asked for $500 and the supervisor's response was that it was almost as much as asking for them to give me a fridge for free. I told her if I was a company concerned about the customer who keeps me in business, writing off a $1300.00 fridge would be worth it to keep me happy. She insisted that all she could do was send me $150, even though all these shipping delays and the falsification of records was their responsibility. Home Depot, on the other hand, worked really hard to keep me happy, even though most of what I experienced was not their fault. They ended up giving me $350 in gift cards, rebates and compensation, understanding that keeping the people who shop at their store happy is crucial. I will never buy a GE product again.
